Ephraim Leister Acker

Ephraim Leister Acker ( born January 11, 1827 in Marlborough, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, † May 12 1903 in Norristown, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1871 and 1873 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ephraim Acker attended the common schools and the Sumneytown Academy. Then he studied until September 8, 1847 at Marshall College in Mercersburg. This was followed up in 1852 to study medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Between 1853 and 1877 agricultural editor of the newspaper was Norristown register. From 1854 to 1860 he also served as a school board in Montgomery County. In the years 1860 and 1861 he was eleven months post holder in Norristown. He then spent three years in prison inspector in Montgomery County. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1870 acre in the sixth constituency of Pennsylvania was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Dodson Stiles on March 4, 1871. Since he has not been confirmed in 1872, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1873. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives he sat until 1877 continued its work in the newspaper industry. He then studied law and worked despite his age after his admission to the bar in this profession. Ephraim Acker died on 12 May 1903 in Norristown.
