Jan Ottosson

January Bo Otto Ottosson ( born March 10, 1960 in Högsäter, community Färgelanda ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier.

Career

January Ottosson started for Åsarna IK. In December 1982 he gave in Reit im Winkl about 15 km Cross Country World Cup in his debut, finishing was immediately awarded tenth place. A year later he won his first World Cup race at the same place over the same distance. Previously, the Swede had already taken part in the 1982 Nordic World Ski Championships at Holmenkollen in Oslo. About 15 kilometers he had become ninth and the 4x10 km relay fifth. Better was his participation in the next major event, the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. In the race over 30 kilometers Ottosson took 16th place, about 50 km rank 14th with Thomas Wassberg, Benny Tord Kohlberg and Gunde Svan he won the gold medal ahead of the teams from the USSR and Finland in the relay race. Next major event was the Nordic World Ski Championships 1987 in Oberstdorf, where the Swede over 50 km and took tenth. Next year, he again took successfully part in a major event. At the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988, he won the squadron to which again included Wassberg and Torgny Mogren and Svan, the gold medal. Individually, he started over 50 km, was sixth.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 1989 Ottosson started at the 50 - kilometer run and reached there on the 12th Place. Two years later, in Val di Fiemme, he was sixth in the 15 - kilometer run and seventh over 50 kilometers. Almost a decade had provided consistent and good Ottosson; in the season before the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, he was however noticeably. So far, he had poor usually achieved top ten placings and rarely places as rank 15, but now he could never be better placed as number 20 there. Nevertheless, he started over 30 km ( 11 ) and 50 km ( 44 ) at the Games. In the following two seasons, he was able to stabilize his services again. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 1993 in Falun, he started once again in the season, but only achieved a disappointing sixth place. Things went better in the individual competitions. About 30 km Ottosson was 15, about 50 km even tenth. The last major event of his career was the Olympic Games in 1994 in Lillehammer. Ottosson was 14 about 10 km, 15th in the pursuit and 18 over 30 kilometers. After the games, he started once again in a World Cup race in his home Falun, where he was about 15 km ninth. Ottosson could run in his career in 27 World Cup races in the top ten. He won one race, once he finished second, he finished three races in third place. In addition, Ottosson won four times, in 1989, 1991, 1992 and 1994, the Vasaloppet.
