Janiuay, Iloilo

Janiuay (Filipino: Bayan ng Janiuay, Hiligaynon: Sangguniang Bayan Janiuay ) is a metropolitan area municipality in the province of Iloilo on Panay Island in the Philippines. It has 63 031 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 60 barangays. It belongs to the first class of income communities in the Philippines and is described as partly urban.

Janiuay is located in the inland of the island of Panay, the capital of the province, Iloilo City is located, about 31 km southeast of the community and can be reached from there by bus or jeepney. The neighboring municipalities are Valderrama in the West, Badiangan and Mina in the east, Lambunao in the north and in the south of Maasin. The topography of the municipality is governed by a gently undulating landscape, which merges into the Central Panay Mountains in the west.
