Jared L. Brush

Jared L. Brush ( born July 6, 1835 Clermont County, Ohio, † April 24, 1913 in Greeley, Colorado ) was an American politician. Between 1895 and 1899 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Colorado.

Career

Jared Brush lived before his made ​​in 1859 moved to Greeley in Iowa. He worked in agriculture and developed irrigation systems. He also founded several agricultural associations. In 1871 he was sheriff in Weld County. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1874 and 1877 he sat in the Provincial Council, from 1879 to 1893 in the House of Representatives from Colorado.

In 1894 Brush was elected to the side of Albert McIntire for Lieutenant Governor of Colorado. This post he held 1895-1899. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1897, he was after leaving McIntires Deputy Governor Alva Adams. From 1896 Brush also worked in the banking industry. At the same time he continued to work in agriculture. In Greeley, he established a school from which the present-day University of Northern Colorado emerged. In 1912 he was an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention.
