Jarocin Festival

The festival in JAROCIN (Polish Festiwal w Jarocinie ) was an annually from 1980 to 1994 instead -find music festival in Poland in the city JAROCIN, in the eastern part of Wielkopolska. Initiator and main organizer was Walter Chełstowski. At the beginning of the event Ogólnopolski Przegląd muzyki Młodej Generacji was called (total Polish show of the music of the younger generation ). Previously found in JAROCIN 1970-1979 the Wielkopolska rhythms of Youth ( Wielkopolskie Rytmy Mlodych ) instead, in 1983 the name was changed festival of rock music ( Festiwal Muzyków Rockowych ).

It was played mainly blues, rock, heavy metal and punk rock. For the 2nd Festival 1981 came about 10,000 young people. The participants, bands and organizers was under surveillance by the Polish security service sluzba Bezpieczeństwa. After the People's Republic of rebellion thought was no longer the driving force. 1993 Philip Morris was the sponsor and there were riots against the commercialization of the festival. Also in the following year there were riots; 70 people were injured and there was property damage. Then the authorities Jarocins refused permits for the festival, which thus came to an end.
