Jaroslav Balaštík

Jaroslav Balaštík ( born November 28, 1979 in Uherské Hradiště, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player of the HC Zlín in the Extraliga under contract since 2007 and was on loan in the 2011/12 season at the League rival BK Mladá Boleslav.

Career

Balaštík began his career at the Czech first division club HC Zlín, for whom he made ​​his debut in the Extraliga 1997. During the NHL Entry Draft in 2002, he was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the sixth round and 184th place, but played until 2005 for his local club. In the 2003 /04 season he won the Czech championship with his team and was voted best striker.

Before the season 2005/ 06 brought him the Blue Jackets in their farm team Syracuse Crunch, but was called after a few games in the NHL squad of the Blue Jackets. There he played until the end of the season and was especially successful with six of nine transformed Shootoout - Penalties. The following season he was used both in the NHL, as well as in the AHL. In December 2006 Balaštík was obliged by the Swedish first division HV 71 Jönköping, where he met his compatriot husband Jan Hrdina, with whom he had played in the Blue Jackets in the NHL together.

Prior to the 2007/ 08 season he returned to the Czech Republic for his hometown club, which has since been renamed RI Okna Zlín, back. He was loaned to Zlín League rival BK Mladá Boleslav for the 2011/12 season, where he held the captaincy. Then he returned to HC Zlín.

Internationally

Balaštík represented the company since 1997, his native country at international championships. He received his first call-up to the European Championships U18 juniors in 1997. Two years later took part in the U20 World Cup, and in 2003, 2006 and 2007 at the World Men Championships. He won the silver medal with the Czech national team in 2006.
