Jarra West
Jarra West is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative divisions - the West African nation of Gambia. It is one of six districts in the Lower River Region.
According to a calculation by 2013 there live about 26,921 inhabitants, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 24 416.
The name is derived from Jarra, a former small kingdom.

Population
According to a survey of 1993 ( former census ), the largest population group, the Mandinka with a share of about seven -tenths, followed by the Fula and Wolof. The distribution in detail: 71.4 % Mandinka, Fula 19.1%, 3.6% Wolof, Jola 1.8%, 1.6% Serahule, 0.5% Serer, Aku 0%, 0.6 % Manjago, 0.2% Bambara and 1.1% other ethnicities.
