Kiang West
Kiang West is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative divisions - the West African nation of Gambia. It is one of six districts in the Lower River Region.
According to a calculation by 2013 there live about 15,065 inhabitants, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 14 711.
The name is derived from Kiang, a former small kingdom.

Population
According to a survey of 1993 ( former census ), the largest population group, the Mandinka with a share of around nine-tenths, followed by the Fula and the Jola. The distribution in detail: 87.9 % Mandinka, Fula 8.7%, 0.2% Wolof, Jola 2.8%, 0.1% Serahule, 0.1% Serer, Aku 0.1 %, 0.1 Manjago %, 0 % Bambara and 0.1% other ethnicities.
