Jarrod Skalde

Jarrod Janis Skald ( born February 26, 1971 in Niagara Falls, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the New Jersey Devils, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, Atlanta Thrashers and Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. Since July 2013 he is assistant coach of the Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League.

Career

After a successful four-year youth career with the Oshawa Generals and Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League from 1987 to 1991, which was when he won the Memorial Cup, the championship of the Canadian Hockey League, crowned, changed skald after completion of the OHL season 1990 / 91 into the professional to the New Jersey Devils, who had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 in the second round in 26th place.

The striker was at the Devils but neither succeed in the NHL strain squad as his later stations in Anaheim, Calgary, San Jose, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta and Philadelphia, but had mostly with inserts in the farm teams, the high-class Minor Leagues, the American Hockey League and International Hockey League, belonged content. For most of his 115 NHL matches he came during the 1997/98 season as he prepares for the San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhaws to a total of 30 missions, 22 of San Jose, and it was collected eleven points, ten at San Jose.

For the season 2002 /03 Skald oriented first time to Europe and played for the HC Lausanne in the NLA. But he returned after only 23 games back to North America. His second exposure to Europe he had in the 2005/06 season, when he played in Sweden Leksand IF.

After he finished his career at end of season 2007/ 08 at the Bloomington PrairieThunder in the International Hockey League, he took over the following season, the management of the team. In the seasons 2008/ 09 and 2009/10 Bloomington Prairie Thunder missed a place in the play-offs. In August 2010, he was introduced as the head coach of the Cincinnati Cyclones.

For the 2013/14 season took skald an offer from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League to serve there as assistant coach.
