Jasmonate

The Jasmonates are a group of plant hormones from the group of oxylipins derived from the jasmonic acid. As with other plant hormones of the jasmonates both activating and inhibitory functions are attributed. It both synergistic and antagonistic effects were observed on other hormones.

The name comes from the plant jasmine, in which jasmonates were first discovered.

Jasmonate -induced proteins

In all plant species so-called jasmonate -induced proteins ( JIPs ) were found whose accumulation is caused by derivatives of jasmonic acid.

  • Accumulation by drying or accumulation of auxin,
  • Jasmonate -induced proteins are missing in the roots, bleached leaves and chlorophyll -deficient leaves. However, in etiolated ( etiolated ) leaves they are.

Effects

  • Growth inhibition,
  • Promotion of senescence,
  • Stimulation of the wound response, induction of wound factors,
  • Inhibition of precocious germination of oily seeds of Brassica and Linum,
  • Promote tuber formation,
  • Promotion of fruit ripening and Fruchtabszission,
  • Promoting the formation of pigments,
  • Importance in the herbivore defense by protease production.
