JazzBaltica

JazzBaltica is a jazz festival in Schleswig -Holstein, which takes place since 1991. By 2011, was the central venue Good Salzau in the district of Plön. Since 2012, the festival guest appearances on the grounds of the Evers -Werft in Timmendorfer beach - Niendorf.

History

1991 organized by the Landesmusikrat Schleswig-Holstein in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Culture of the Land Schleswig -Holstein, the first JazzBaltica under the heading " Ars Baltica Prologue 1991 ". The initiative to JazzBaltica came from the former Schleswig-Holstein Prime Minister Björn Engholm, which in this project is a possibility of cooperation saw as an avid jazz lover for the launched project he Ars Baltica and the vision of the revival of the Hanseatic tradition in a collaboration the Baltic Sea States. Structures

Award JazzBaltica

The prize awarded JazzBaltica - Since 2008, is given annually to outstanding young jazz musicians - primarily from the North of Germany. It is endowed with 3,000 euros. The prize money is donated by the Investment Bank Schleswig -Holstein.
