Jean-François Kahn

Jean -François Kahn ( born June 12, 1938 in Viroflay ) is a French journalist. He founded in 1997 the weekly magazine Marianne and remained its CEO until 2007. He was the top candidate for the party Mouvement démocrate in the constituency Est in the European elections in France in 2009.

Life

Jean -François Kahn is the son of the Jewish philosopher Jean Kahn Dessertenne and the brother of physician and geneticist Axel Kahn and the chemist Olivier Kahn.

After three years of studying history, he worked at the post office and then in the printing industry. He then became interested in journalism and was sent as a reporter for the Algerian War to Algeria. His investigation led to the revelation of the Ben Barka affair.

He then worked for various newspapers, magazines and radio stations: Paris -Presse, L' Express, Europe 1, Le Monde. In 2007 he left his job with the weekly " Marianne", which he had founded and supported François Bayrou in the French presidential elections.
