Jean Guillaume Auguste Lugol

Jean Guillaume Auguste Lugol ( born August 18, 1786 in Montauban, † September 16, 1851 in Neuilly -sur -Seine ) was a French physician.

Life and work

Lugol studied medicine in Paris and passed his examination in 1812. From 1819 until his retirement he was a physician at the Hôpital Saint- Louis. He dealt mainly with tuberculosis and scrofula. Named after him is the suitable for the disinfection of Lugol's solution.
