Jean Laffitte

Jean Laffitte ( born May 5, 1952 in Oloron -Sainte- Marie, Pyrénées- Atlantiques département, France) is Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Jean Laffitte attended the University of Toulouse I and earned a 1973 degree in political science. He graduated in 1979 some courses at the University of Cambridge and in 1980 at the University of Salamanca. 1984 Laffitte entered into Rome in the Pontifical French Seminary. He studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Jean Laffitte bought in 1988 by the Baccalauréat in Catholic theology and philosophy. On 2 July 1989, he received the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Jean Lafitte was in the diocese of Autun, incardinated as a member of the Emmanuel Community, whose co-founder is his sister Martine Catta

Laffitte continued his studies at the Pontifical Institute " John Paul II " for Studies on Marriage and Family. He received his doctorate in moral theology in the tray. In 1994, Jean Laffitte lecturer for conjugal ethics, anthropology and spirituality at the Pontifical Institute " John Paul II " for Studies on Marriage and Family. From 1999 to 2001 he also served as vice-rector of this institute. Pope John Paul II granted him on 14 January 2000 the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). 2003 Laffitte was consultant to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. On 28 January 2005 he was appointed by John Paul II to the undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family. On January 24, 2006 Jean Lafitte was appointed Vice President of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

On 22 October 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Titular Bishop of Entrevaux and appointed him as secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on 12 December of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica; Co-consecrators were president emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Renato Raffaele Cardinal Martino, and the Archbishop of L' Aquila, Giuseppe Molinari. On January 5, 2011, he was named Benedict XVI. the consultant to the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Assistance to Health Care Workers.
