Expansion of the municipal area

The municipality Jengen include the places and districts Jengen ( 1043 inhabitants), Beck Stetten ( 340 inhabitants), Eurishofen (164 inhabitants), Koneberg (40 inhabitants), Ummenhofen (150 inhabitants), deviates (432 inhabitants) and Weinhausen (246 inhabitants ).

History

Jengen belonged to the Bishopric of Augsburg. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the until then independent municipality Weinhausen was incorporated. On January 1, 1978 Beck Stetten, Eurishofen, Ummenhofen and deviates were added.

Policy

Mayor is Franz Hauck ( Municipal constituency association / Nonpartisan WV / WV Free ). He was the successor of Rudolf Rogg ( Free WV / Nonpartisan WV) in 2002.

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 598,000 in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted € 100,000.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Split of silver and red; the front of the gap, a reinforced red half black eagle, a rear left inverted golden lion grasping. The Red - Silver cleavage comes from the Old Bishopric of Augsburg coat of arms. As a historically significant landlords the Kaufbeurer Hospital Foundation and the monastery Steingaden are detectable in the municipality. The half eagle at the gap comes from the coat of arms of the imperial city Kaufbeuren, grasping the lion is the emblem of the monastery of Gaden stone removed.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

There were 1998 in the field of agriculture and forestry not, in manufacturing and 111 in trade and transport, no social insurance contributions at the workplace.
