Jentilez

The Sept Iles (also Sept -Îles, French for " Seven Islands ."; Les Sept Iles also for "Seven Islands ", Breton ar Jentilez ) are a group of islands about 10 km off the coast of Perros -Guirec in the department of Côtes- d'Armor in Brittany ( France). The barren islands are uninhabited today. As early as 1912 was declared the " Seven Islands " nature reserve and are thus the oldest reserve of Brittany.

The bird of paradise: The Ile Rouzic

The northernmost island of the Sept Iles, the Ile Rouzic is not called wrongly as " Bird Island" ( Ile aux Oiseaux ). Thousands of seabirds breed on the rocky and steep island. The most prominent type is the gannets, which is represented here with 20,000 breeding pairs. The Sept Îles is the only breeding site of gannets in France. Furthermore breed on the Ile Rouzic puffins, guillemots, razorbills, shags, oystercatchers and various species of gulls. In addition to the rich bird life here is also a small population of gray seals has been established.

Tourism

In high season, several times a day excursion boats from Perros -Guirec, Ploumanac'h and Trégastel from the Sept Îles. The Ile Rouzic is circumnavigated half, on the other side of the island where the birds have their rest before men. The only accessible for the tourist island is the Ile aux Moines ( island of the monks ). You can be explored during a one-hour shore excursion. Previously, this island was inhabited by people. Witness of the lighthouse and the remnants of a decaying fortress. The return trip along the Pink Granite Coast ermöglichst pleasant views from the water side.

The best time for bird watching are the morning or early evening because the bird life rests on the lunch time.
