Jesewitz

Jesewitz is a municipality in the district of North Saxony, Saxony. It belongs to the administrative organization Eilenburg -West.

Geography and transport

The community Jesewitz is about 15 kilometers northeast of Leipzig and 5 kilometers southwest of haste castle. The B 107 B 87 and the railway line Leipzig - Cottbus (see: Railway Leipzig Rush castle and railway Halle- Cottbus ) through the community. In the west, the town adjacent to the city diving, to the east the district Groitzsch to hurry castle in the Mulde Valley.

History

The locations are as seen from the names of most of Slavic origin. The districts Bötzen, Gordemitz, Gostemitz, Groitzsch, Welte wit and Wölpern are first mentioned in 1156 in a document, as the Wettin Margrave Konrad gave to the monastery on the Petersberg near Halle / Saale different villages. The district Liemehna is first documented in 1238 as " Lumene ". The place name comes from the Slavic and means something like " people at the quarry ."

Jesewitz 1700 was affected by witch hunts. Hans Buchheim was caught in a witch trial.

In 1993, the former municipalities of Gotha, Jesewitz, Liemehna and Pehritzsch have come together on a voluntary basis to the greater community Jesewitz.

Cultural Association Jesewitz

The Cultural Association Jesewitz eV is an association which attempts through various community events Jesewitz the ( culture) living in the community to step up. In addition to various readings and concerts organized by the Cultural Association Summer Festival is the highlight of the festivals that are usually held in the summer time in the community.
