History

Several districts are in the year 1201 in a deed of the Augustinian monastery on the Petersberg near Halle by Pope Innocent III. first mentioned. After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the area comes to Prussia and the circle is assigned to Torgau. As part of the Saxon municipal reform the formerly independent communities Audenhain, Langenreichenbach and Klitzschen joined on 1 March 1994 the greater community Audenhain together, the combined on January 1, 1999 Mockrehna, Schoena, Strelln, wild grove and poacher to the current community Mockrehna.

The name of the place Mockrehna, as part of the community Mockrehna, has its origin in the Slavic Mokrechna (German: swamp ) and refers to the circumstances in the colonization by Slavic tribes. Residues of these moorlands are still in the " Zadlitzbruch " and the "Wild Hainer break" in the nearby nature park " Dübener Heather" available. Over time, the area between the Elbe and Mulde was systematically drained, so that today a land use is around Mockrehna by agriculture and forestry in the foreground.

A certain notoriety gained Mockrehna in many parts of the GDR by the settlement of a large slaughterhouse for poultry through the combine Industrial mast ( KIM ) today Alfra poultry and frozen Food Ltd., in 1972, the for the supply of the southern districts of the Republic (GDR) was responsible with poultry products (mainly broilers ). This settlement led to the construction of a housing estate with 170 residential units and for the development of land for the construction of homes. By doing so the change in the structure of buildings and residents led to the loss of the previously heavily influenced rural character of the village. Only the lower village with its traditional three- yards this still reflects resist. However, even here a drop in domestic livestock and agricultural use of these buildings recorded.
