Jessica Kilian

Jessica Sheila Deepika Kilian ( born December 8, 1981 in Colombo) is a Swiss Skeleton pilot.

Jessica Kilian was born in Sri Lanka and adopted at the age of four weeks by a Swiss couple. In addition to many other sports Kilian business since the age of six athletics and became one of the biggest sprint and jumping talents in Switzerland. After 2001 Gregor Stähli met her, she invited this and two other track and field athletes for a trial. After a fall on the first try Kilian wanted to give up, but was by then coach Urs Vescoli convinced to try it on. After trying for some time Skeleton and athletics to operate equally, the Athletics had to give up in favor of the Skeleton sport.

After a short training period Kilian drove first race. When skeleton Europa Cup race in Winterberg, she was 14 in December 2002, the Grand Prix of Innsbruck and sixth in her first skeleton World Cup race in Igls, they finished 25th. In February 2003, she was surprisingly sixth at the Junior World Championships in Koenigssee. A year later she won the bronze medal in Winterberg and in the subsequent Skeleton World Cup in Koenigssee 14th 2004, although she was even eighth after the first run. Since the season 2006/ 07 Kilian also achieved good results at senior level. In the European Cup they finished fifth in Igls and sixth in Koenigssee, in the World Cup in Koenigssee after she finished in seventh for the first time a rank in the top ten. This race was also the Skeleton Championship 2007 where the Swiss was fourth. They also finished third at the Swiss Championships. At the beginning of the next season moved Kilian in search of the A-team. Due to problems with the launch permissions for the World Cup Kilian could not in this competition, first start and was twice second in European Cup races.

Kilian is a commercial clerk and since the 2007 /08 season semi-pro. From their employer they shall be released in the winter months. They will start for the Bob Club Zurich and is trained by Snorre Pedersen. She lives in field miles.
