Jesus Freak is the fourth and most famous album by dc Talk and was published on 21 November 1995. To this day, it was sold in the U.S. alone over 2 million times.

Origin of the title

Jesus Freak was originally a derogatory term for followers of the Jesus Movement in the 60s and 70s. Over time, the meaning changed at least within the Christian youth scene into something positive and denotes someone who lives openly his Christian faith.

Importance

Compared to the previous album Free At Last (1992), the hip-hop influences disappear almost completely in favor of the rock units. The content is about the Christian faith, but also social problems such as racism towards people of color ( Colored People ).
