Jilem (Jindřichův Hradec District)

Jilem ( German Jelmo ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 14 km west of Telc and belongs to Okres Jindřichův Hradec.

Geography

Jilem located in southwestern Moravia in the Javořická Highlands. To the north rises the 677 m high Bukovice.

Neighboring towns are Zahrádky Domašín in the north, Studena in the northeast, Skrýchov the southeast, Horni Němčice in the south, Horni Meziříčko and Strmilov the southwest, Palupín in the west and Horni Dvorce in the northwest.

History

The village was first mentioned by its 1358 completion of the sale of Nicholas Kadolt of Neuhaus at Diepoldsberg of Jilem. Until the 16th century repeatedly changed hands. At times Jilem was associated with Studena, then it acquired the Babkov of Meziříčko. 1593 bought Adam II von Neuhaus rule Meziříčko including Jilem and beat them with his possessions in Telc to. Later Jilem came back to power Studena in Jihlava district, to which it belonged until the abolition of patrimonial regimes in 1849. In 1850 the assignment to the new political district Dačice and 1855-1868 to the district Telc. 1880 had Jilem 283 inhabitants and 1900 there were 256

After the dissolution of Okres Dačice Jilem in 1960 part of the Okres Jindřichův Hradec.
