Jim Duggan

James Edward Duggan, Jr. ( born January 14, 1954 in Glens Falls, New York ) is an American professional wrestler, who is currently under contract with WWE. He is best known by his ring name " Hacksaw " Jim Duggan and occurs - with a brief interruption - for over 25 years in various leagues with the gimmick of an American patriot on. Duggan is married and has two daughters.

Career

James Duggan was brought and trained by wrestler and promoter Fritz von Erich for wrestling. He made his debut in 1979. Vince McMahon Sr. noticed him and signed him briefly for the World Wrestling Federation, where he first served in 1981 as a construction opponent for the young Hulk Hogan. Later that year, Duggan joined for various promotions such as Georgia Championship Wrestling and especially Mid-South Wrestling ( later Universal Wrestling Federation ) on. As the reigning UWF Tag Team Champion, he lost in January 1987, a Loser Leaves Town match against One Man Gang, whereby its changed again was declared the WWF.

World Wrestling Federation

His first major appearance for the WWF had Jim Duggan at WrestleMania III, when he interrupted Nikolai Volkoff singing the Soviet national anthem. Duggan ring person was created as an American patriot who chanted with american flag and timber stormed frequently "USA, USA" the ring. After he was released a short time for possession of marijuana and driving under the influence of alcohol, Duggan returned to the WWF in 1988 and won the Battle Royal at the first Royal Rumble. Despite its popularity among the fans remained Duggan's character rather komödianter nature, so that he was able to record any title success in the WWF during the seven years. One of his last significant appearances took place in 1993, when he became one of the first "victim" of the newcomer Yokozuna.

World Championship Wrestling

In 1994, Duggan while maintaining his ring character to WCW and allowed the WCW United States Championship win against Steve Austin. In the following years, he remained active in the low to mid- fight card.

In the summer of 1998, Duggan was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and he took a break from wrestling. After he had overcome the disease, he returned in late 1999 back in WCW. He was given the gimmick of a janitor and " found " as such random vacant belt of several months WCW World Television title. Duggan claimed the title for himself and defended him in matches, until he was finally discontinued in April 2000.

Independent

In the following years Duggan toured primarily by smaller independent leagues. In March and October 2003, he completed three appearances for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (then NWA: TNA). In the IWA Japan he could win the IWA World Heavyweight Championship in August 2004.

World Wrestling Entertainment

Duggan was separated again committed from October 2005 for appearances on WWE. As of June 2006, he was re- employed full-time by the WWE. Here Duggan acted as building opponents and practical examiner for new wrestlers.

In the RAW output of 21 February 2011 announced that Duggan is incorporated into the WWE Hall of Fame. The task as award presenter for the induction ceremony took over Ted DiBiase.

On January 29, 2012, he took part in the Royal Rumble Match of the eponymous pay-per- views as well as on the following SmackDown tapings, just like on Smackdown on April 10 of the year.

Generally

Duggan has never won the big titles in his career. Nevertheless, he has achieved the status of a wrestling legend late in his career as a perpetual crowd favorite. He helped and helps young wrestlers to bring their own career momentum by allowing trains them and win against him ( as the owner of a legend he contract this could also deny).
