Jim Flynn (academic)

James Robert Flynn ( born 1934 in Chicago, Illinois), also known as Jim Flynn, is an American professor emeritus of political studies at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Flynn was known by studies in the field of intelligence research and by the Flynn effect, named after him. This refers to the continuous increase in IQ in many parts of the world. His research interests outside the intelligence research include human ideals, ideological debates, as well as classical and political philosophy.

Flynn comes from Chicago and went to New Zealand in 1963.
