Jim Nussle

James Allen "Jim" Nussle (* 27 June 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa) is an American politician. Between 1991 and 2007 he represented the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives. From 2007 to 2009 he was employed as director of the Office of Management and Budget at the Cabinet of the United States.

Career

After attending primary school and Luther College in Decorah, which he completed in 1983, Jim Nussle to 1985 studied at Drake University in Des Moines law. Then he began to work in his new profession. Between 1986 and 1990 he was district attorney in Delaware County.

Nussle was a member of the Republican Party and in 1990 as the candidate in the second electoral district of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he stepped on 3 January 1991 in the footsteps of Tom Tauke. After seven elections he could pass in Congress until January 3, 2007 eight contiguous legislatures. Since 2003 he represented as a successor to Jim Leach the first district. Practically, these were only a renumbering of the electoral districts in Iowa. From 2001 to 2007 Nussle was chairman of the Budget Committee. In Congress was his voting behavior as more conservative. In 2006, he opted not to run again.

Also in 2006, he ran unsuccessfully for the office of the Governor of Iowa. Between 2007 and 2009 he was a successor to Rob Portman Director of the budgetary authority in the cabinet of U.S. President George W. Bush.
