Jim Talent

James Matthes "Jim" Talent ( born October 18, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri ) is an American politician of the Republican Party. He represented the state of Missouri in both chambers of Congress.

Career

His studies at Washington University in St. Louis and at the University of Chicago he worked as a clerk for Judge Richard Posner on the U.S. Court of Appeals.

The political career of talented lawyers began in 1984, when he was elected to the House of Representatives from Missouri. After he was re-elected there several times, he won the 1992 and the election to the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2000, he lost the election for governor of Missouri just to Democrat Bob Holden.
