Jimmy Amadie

Jimmy Amadie (* circa 1937, † December 10, 2013 ) was an American jazz pianist and music educator who was active in the music scene of Philadelphia.

Amadie toured the late 1950s with Woody Herman and His Orchestra, accompanied Mel Tormé and played among others with Coleman Hawkins and Red Rodney. Because of tendinitis disease he interrupted his career as a musician to teach henceforth. He led master classes at Berklee College of Music and at Villanova University in Philadelphia; among his students John Di Martino and Kurt Rosenwinkel. 1994 Amadie began to again take; he produced a solo album, Always With Me, on which he worked for two years. It was followed by nine other productions, with guest musicians such as Joe Lovano, Benny Golson, Phil Woods, Lew Tabackin, Randy Brecker, and Lee Konitz. In the rhythm section of Bill Goodwin and Steve Gilmore and Tony Marino played. 2011 Amadie occurred after 44- year hiatus in public again in the Grand Hall of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on. He died in 2013 at the age of 76 years from the effects of lung disease.
