Jimmy Shea

Jim Shea ( born June 10, 1968 in Hartford, Connecticut, United States) is an American athlete and Olympic gold medalist in skeleton.

Jim Shea, the winner of the skeleton gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, began as a bobsledder, but then switched due to lower costs and higher voltage to Skeleton. After winning the World Championship in 1999, he qualified for the Olympic Skeleton team in the U.S..

Shea is Olympian in the third generation: his father Jim Shea Senior occurred at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in the disciplines of Nordic combined and ski touring with his grandfather Jack Shea won two speed skating gold medals at the 1932 Olympics in his hometown of Lake Placid. Like his grandfather wore Shea at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games oath before.
