Job Adriaenszoon Berckheyde

Job Adriaenszoon Berckheyde ( * before January 27, 1630 in Haarlem, † ibid before November 23, 1693 ) was a Dutch painter.

Life

Berckheyde was a pupil of Jacob de Wet and Frans Hals. He was inducted in 1654 into the guild in Haarlem as a master, made with his brother Gerrit Adriaenszoon Berckheyde a trip up the Rhine to Heidelberg and then worked until his death in Haarlem. He painted architectural pieces, landscapes and genre paintings, which are characterized by rich light effects and subtle coloring. From its infrequent paintings are highlighted: the student workshop of Frans Hals ( Haarlem ), his self-portrait (Uffizi, Florence ), the Interior of the Amsterdam stock exchange ( the Duke of Arenberg in Brussels), the Interior of the Great Church at Haarlem (Dresden ), winter landscape ( Berlin Museum ).
