Joe Carrasco

Joe "King" Carrasco (* as Joseph Teutsch in Dumas, Texas) is an American guitarist and rock musician, who called his Nuevo Wavo music mix of Tex- Mex rock ' n ' roll, new wave and garage rock became known.

After Carrasco had played in various bands since the late 1960s, 1976, he founded his own band El Molino, which among other things Augie Meyers and members of the West Side Horns belonged. The debut album Joe King Carrasco & El Molino (1978 ) had Carrasco press itself, calling the label Lisa Records - after his then-girlfriend. It quickly became the limited edition of 5000 pieces plate, connecting the Tex-Mex sound of the Sir Douglas Quintet revived and garage rock to a coveted item of the underground.

In 1979, Carrasco and The Crowns occurred especially in the club scene of New York City. He called His music now Nuevo Wavo. On stage Carrasco was mostly mantle and crown. As one of the first American bands got signed Joe King Carrasco And The Crowns in 1980 by the British label Stiff Records. In the aftermath Carrasco could go with his band toured extensively in Europe and North and South America. On his reggae -influenced album Synapse Gap ( 1982), with whom he moved to the major label MCA, sang a certain Michael Jackson The backing harmonies.

Both Synapse Gap as well as the successor Party Weekend (1983 ) did not make it into the charts and so Carrasco took again for smaller labels on. After Carrasco had lived mid-1980s, some time in Nicaragua, the Latin influence on his subsequent plates Bordertown (1985) and rock Bandido (1987 ) was larger. His new mix called Carrasco now Tequila reggae. The backing band was now called Las Coronas.

Since the 1990s it has been quiet around Carrasco. He recorded only sporadically and released his self-distributed albums. Published in 1995, MCA 18 -track compilation Anthology, however, takes into account only the two LPs Synapse Gap and Party Weekend. 1996 Carrasco appeared as a guest musician on the CD Four Aces of the Texas Tornados, which they covered his Tell Me. Most recently, he was heard with a cover version of Adios Mexico on the Doug Sahm tribute album Keep Your Soul ( Vanguard, 2009).

The self-proclaimed "King of Tex- Mex " is also active as a filmmaker and published in 2008 his film Rancho No Tengo, where he entered appearance as a producer, director, lead actor and soundtrack composer, on DVD.

Joe King Carrasco occurs even today with his party music on a regular basis. Most near his adopted home of Puerto Vallarta.
