Johann Adam Birkenstock

Johann Adam Birkenstock (* February 1, 1687 in Alsfeld, Hesse, † February 26, 1733 in Eisenach ) was a German violinist and composer.

Birkenstocks parents moved over to Kassel. Here he received his first musical training. 1706 was the Duke Karl on his talent. He sent Birkenstock for one year for further training to Jean -Baptiste Volumier (1670-1728), a French violinist in the royal chapel in Dresden. Then he took his first violin lessons from Fiorelli in Bayreuth and of François Duval (1672-1728) in Paris, one of the Vingt- quatre Violons du Roy. In 1709 he got a job in the Kassel court chapel was built in 1721 and whose solo violinist. In the following years, he traveled to Germany, France and the Netherlands. 1722 his first works published by Le Cène in Amsterdam have been published. After the death of Duke Kassel he was Kapellmeister in 1730 the Grand Duke of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach, he died only three years later.
