Life

Wagner studied in Erlangen, received his doctorate in 1826, qualified as a professor in Würzburg. Starting from 1835 a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.

He was an opponent of Darwinism and followers of the biblical story of creation and also rejected the interpretation of the London specimen of Archaeopteryx found in 1861 as a transitional form of reptiles to birds from. For him it was just a Reptile ( by him Griphosaurus, Mystery lizard called ), the springs only adornment. This contributed to the fact that the British Museum was able to purchase the Fund.
