Johannes Bündgens

John Bündgens ( born April 2, 1956 in Eschweiler ) is auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Aachen.

Life

John Bündgens was born on April 2, 1956 in Eschweiler. After graduating from the Municipal Natural Science Gymnasiumin Eschweiler he studied from 1974 Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a deacon on 24 March 1979. On October 10, 1980, he received in Rome by Cardinal Joseph Schröffer the sacrament of Holy Orders. From 1981 to 1985 he was chaplain at St. Cornelius in Viersen - Dülken. In November 1985, he was released for doctoral studies at the Gregorian University, from which he graduated in May 1990 with a doctorate in theology. Subsequently, he worked as an employee and department head of the Department of education and training in the Aachen Generalvikariat. At the same time he was Subsidiar in Aachen and Stolberg- Kornelimünster Venwegen.

On 1 October 1992 appointed him Bishop Klaus Hemmerle spiritual director of the Collegium Leoninum and - after moving the Theologenkonvikts - Paul at home in Bonn. In this function, he was also responsible for the permanent deacons in the Diocese of Aachen since 1997. In 2002 Bishop Henry Mussinghoff appointed him pastor of four parishes in the city of Heimbach (Eifel ). Since January 1, 2003 Bündgens is a member of the Priests of the Diocese of Aachen. In addition Bündgens belongs to the diocesan preparatory group for the beatification of the physician Heinrich Hahn.

On 15 March 2006 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Titular Bishop of Árd Carna and Auxiliary Bishop of Aachen. He received his episcopal consecration Bishop Henry Mussinghoff on 20 May 2006 in Aachen Cathedral; Co-consecrators were the suffragans Gerd thickness and Karl Borsch. On the occasion of his episcopal consecration itself Bündgens ( " The big secret - The Church " ) sought the motto mystery magnum of Ecclesia, the Ephesians ( Eph 5,32 EU) stems. Since 20 May 2006, he is also canon of Aachen Cathedral Chapter and since June 1 of that year, Chairman of Caritas Association for the Diocese of Aachen as well as Episcopal Vicar for the Caritas beings. Bündgens is Chairman of the Board of the International Catholic mission organization Missio eV based in Aachen.
