Johannes Flintoe

John Flintoe (* 1786 in Copenhagen, † January 27, 1870 ) was a Danish painter.

Life and work

Flintoe is known for his landscape paintings and historical paintings of Scandinavian history.

He trained in painting by his stepfather pder faxes and attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1802 to 1805. 1811 he traveled to Norway and lived in Christiania, where he taught at the Tegneskolen in the years 1819-1851 painting. His students included the artist Johan Fredrik Eckerberg and Hans Gude. Later he returned to Denmark, where he died in Copenhagen on 27 January 1870.
