Gad is known for his work on experimental physiology. He conducted numerous studies on the electrophysiology, spinal cord functionality and the relationship between lactic acid in muscle contraction and other. Among his written works was a textbook on human physiology, which he brought out along with the pharmacist Jean -François Heymans: " Short Textbook of Human Physiology ", and a treatise on skin stimuli that he together with Alfred Goldscheider (1858-1935 ) published.
