Johannes Salat

John lettuce, salad, Hans (* 1498 in Sursee; † before October 23, 1561 in Fribourg ), was a Swiss court clerk, playwright and historian / chronicler. In 1538 he was director of the Lucerne Easter play game.

Life

John lettuce, Seiler like his father, who lived from 1520 to 1540 in Lucerne. He participated in six campaigns from 1522 to 1527 mostly as a field recorder. After that, he was with the Kappeler wars there. From 1531 he was clerk of the court and printed next to his first literary works, often with a high polemical and satirical potential. He has written on behalf of the Catholic Old places but also several historical writings. In 1540 he lost his position because of fraud. After that he was in Freiburg schoolmaster ( 1544-47 ), surgeon, alchemist and astrologer.

The estate of Hans salad, including his diary, is preserved in the Central and University Library Lucerne.
