John Barres

John Oliver Barres ( ' bærɪs; born September 20, 1960 in Port Chester ) is an American clergyman and Bishop of Allentown.

Life

The Bishop of Wilmington, Robert Edward Mulvee, ordained him priest on 21 October 1989.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 27 May 2009 as Bishop of Allentown. The archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal Justin Francis Rigali, donated to him on July 30th of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Michael Angelo Saltarelli, Bishop Emeritus of Wilmington, and William Francis Malooly, Bishop of Wilmington. As a motto he chose Holiness and Mission.
