John Cooper (athlete)

John Cooper ( John Hugh Cooper, born December 18, 1940 in Bromyard, Herefordshire, † March 3rd, 1974 at Ermenonville ) was a British hurdler.

John Cooper was a member of the British 4 x 400 - meter relay team, which at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 in a time of 3:01,6 min in the cast Tim Graham, Adrian Metcalfe, Cooper and Robbie Brightwell won the silver medal.

Coopers special discipline was the 400 - meter hurdles. For the Games in 1964, he finished in 50.1 s second behind the world record holder Rex Cawley (USA ), and thus won his second silver medal.
