John Faed

John Faed ( born August 31, 1819 in Burley Mill, Kirkcudbrightshire in Scotland; † 22 October 1902 in Ardmore ) was a Scottish painter.

Faed was born in 1841 to the Academy to Edinburgh and began the following year with small genre pictures. In 1850 he made by an image: Shakespeare and his contemporaries, and later by two series of illustrations: Unknown Sunday evening of the farmer and the return of the soldiers. In 1864 he moved to London.

From here its running with great care, but without deeper sensation genre paintings are:

  • The Marksmen,
  • The stapes trunk,
  • The forester 's daughter,
  • Goldsmith in his study,
  • The winding down,
  • The old basket-maker,
  • The old shopkeeper and
  • After the victory.

His brother Thomas Faed was also a painter.
