Biography

Career

Fogerty was the frontman and lead guitarist of the rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival ( CCR), which he and his older brother Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar) in the late 1950s as the Blue Velvets was established and later renamed by the record company in The Golliwogs. Between 1969 and 1972, had Creedence Clearwater Revival nine Top Ten singles like Fortunate Son, Proud Mary and Bad Moon Rising.

After his time with Creedence Clearwater Revival Fogerty began a solo career. In 1973 he released his album Blue Ridge Rangers, on which he played all the instruments. The songs were partially gospel songs such as Have Thine Own Way, Lord or Working on a Building. Two singles from this album, Jambalaya ( On the Bayou ) and Hearts of Stone, were able to place in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Another single as Blue Ridge Rangers - You Do not Owe Me / Back in the Hills - was published in the fall of 1973, but remained largely unnoticed.

The first single was released under his name Comin ' Down the Road, which was included on any regular album. It reached number 37 in early 1974 in the German single charts. The album John Fogerty came out in 1975, with more moderate success. Then are the songs Rockin ' All Over the World and Almost Saturday Night.

The next few years were less influenced by musical publications, but more had the gag character by a dispute with the label Fantasy Records, Saul Zaentz, the John Fogerty did not want released from the recording contract. This paralyzed the creative power of the musician. John Fogerty retaliated later with clearly ambiguous songs like Mr. Greed and Zanz Can not Danz, who finally had to be renamed after further litigation in Vanz Can not Danz.

Mid-eighties John Fogerty managed a comeback. The album Centerfield with the hits of The Old Man Down the Road and Rock and Roll Girls came in 1985 at No. 1 on the Billboard pop album charts. This album also played Fogerty as a one man band. 1986 The Eye of the Zombie was far less successful. Appeared in 1997, the album Blue Moon Swamp and 1998, the live album Premonition, which contains many old CCR songs as well as his biggest solo success.

In their wanderings Fogerty took over again on track in country sound that ran among other things, on CMT ( for example, the country-rock song Southern Streamline or the entire album " The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again " 2009). In 2004, the album Deja Vu ( All Over Again) was published; The title track is a protest song against the Iraq war. The album contains another typical Fogerty numbers a duet with Mark Knopfler. During this time, the political setting Fogerty became clear when he took part in the organized by Bruce Springsteen Vote for Change tour in 2004, whose aim was to support John Kerry in the presidential campaign. During the tour Fogerty completed his appearance without his own band. Instead, he played with Springsteen's E Street Band, such as the title track of his new CD time, but also older songs like Centerfield or Travellin band.

The end of 2005 released their best-of album, The Long Road Home, after John Fogerty had agreed with the interim operating under new management label Fantasy after 30 years. The album contained an outline of the complete works of Fogerty from the time with Creedence Clearwater Revival and his solo albums, as well as four live recordings, but no new songs. Under the same title, a concert DVD was released in June 2006, which was recorded in September 2005 in the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.

In October 2007, appeared with Revival Fogerty's first studio album in three years. As part of its revival tour in 2008 was recorded during the concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 24 June, a concert, which was released under the name Comin ' Down the Road on 11 December 2009 on DVD.

John Fogerty is touring through Europe almost every year. His band is beside himself Fogerty (vocals / guitar / harmonica) from James Intvelt (guitar), Hunter Perrin (guitar ), David Santos ( bass), Kenny Aronoff (drums ), Michael Webb (keyboards / guitar) and Jason Mowery (fiddle / guitar).
