John K. Shaw

John Shaw ( born October 16, 1968 in Irvine ) is a Scottish chess champion.

Life

His first important success won Shaw in 1991, when he won the Open of Aberdeen. Since the mid- 1990s, he is among the leaders of the Scottish chess player. Three times (1995, 1998 and 2000 ), he won the Scottish championship. 1998 FIDE awarded him the title of International Master, 2006, he was according to standard compliances in Gibraltar in 2003, at the Chess Olympiad 2004 in Calvia and in the Four Nations Chess League 2005/ 06 Grand Master. In the same year Shaw shared second place in Tórshavn.

John Shaw has published several books on opening theory. His Elo rating is 2421 (as of March 2014). In January 2002, he reached his highest ever Elo rating of 2506th

Chess team

National

In the years 1994, 1996 and 2000 to 2012, he participated in nine Chess Olympiads with Scotland. Four times he represented his country at the European Team Championship, including at two events on top board.

In the British Four Nations Chess League ( 4NCL ) Shaw played in the 1996/97 season for Northumbria, in the season 2000/ 01 for Poisoned Pawns, in the season 2003/ 04 for Slough, 2004 to 2009 Guildford A & DC, with whom In 2007 and 2008 he won the 4NCL. Since 2010 he plays for Wood Green Hilsmark Kingfisher. In the Danish Skakligaen he played in the 2010/11 season for the Skakklubben Sydøstfyn.
