John Lynch (Pennsylvania)

John Lynch ( born November 1, 1843 in Providence, Rhode Iceland, † August 17, 1910 in Atlantic City, New Jersey ) was an American politician. Between 1887 and 1889 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1856 John Lynch came with his parents to Wilkes -Barre, Pennsylvania, where he attended the public schools. He also graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston. He worked on a farm and in the coal mines of the region. At times, he also taught as a teacher. After studying law and his 1868 was admitted to the bar, he began practicing in Wilkes -Barre in this profession. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1886, Lynch was the twelfth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Joseph A. Scranton on March 4, 1887. Since he has not been confirmed in 1888, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1889. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Lynch began working again as a lawyer; 1892-1910 he was appeal judges. He died on August 17, 1910 in Atlantic City and was buried in Wilkes - Barre.
