John Moore (bishop of Bauchi)

Life

John Francis Moore joined in 1959 the Congregation of the Society of African Missions ( SMA) in Cloughballymore, County Galway, in 1960 and laid profession. John Francis Moore, who spoke fluent Hausa and other Nigerian dialects, strove greatly to an understanding with the local Muslims.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Gigthi 1996 and appointed him Vicar Apostolic of the company founded out of the Archdiocese of Jos Vicariate of Bauchi.
