John Thomas Lenahan

John Thomas Lenahan (* November 15, 1852 in Jenkins, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, † April 28, 1920 in Wilkes -Barre, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1907 and 1909 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Lenahan first attended private schools and then studied until 1870 at Villanova College. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his 1873 was admitted to the bar he began in Wilkes-Barre to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In 1892 and 1896 he participated as a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant.

In the congressional elections of 1906, Lenahan was in the eleventh electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Henry Wilbur Palmer on March 4, 1907. Since he resigned in 1908 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1909. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Lenahan practiced as a lawyer again. He died on April 28, 1920 in Wilkes -Barre, where he was also buried.
