Johnny Boychuk

Johnny Boychuk ( born January 19, 1984 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player standing since 2008 with the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Johnny Boychuk began his career as a hockey player in the Western Hockey League in which he was active for the Calgary Hitmen and Moose Jaw Warriors 1999-2004. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in the second round than a total of 61 players from the Colorado Avalanche.

First, however, the defender played from 2004 to 2007 depending on a season long for their farm team of the American Hockey League, Hershey Bears, Lowell Lock Monsters and Albany River Rats before the right-handed shooter in the 2007/ 08 season his debut in the National Hockey League gave for Colorado. For the Avalanche he was this season in four games on the ice, where he remained point and impunity. The majority of the season but spent the Canadians again with their new AHL Farmtean, the Lake Erie Monsters.

On 24 June 2008 Boychuk was given in exchange for Matt Hendricks to the Boston Bruins, for which he was only one time in the NHL on the Ice in the season 2008 /09. The rest of the time he spent with their AHL farm team, the Providence Bruins. There he was elected at the end of the season in the First All -Star team in the league and with the Eddie Shore Award as the best defender.

Internationally

For Canada Boychuk took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2002, where he finished sixth with his team.
