Johnny Oates

Johnny Lane Oates ( January 21, 1946 *, † December 24, 2004 in Richmond, Virginia) was an American baseball player and manager in Major League.

Oates played from 1972 to 1981 for various major league teams, but without achieving extraordinary success. As a coach, he worked from 1991 to 1994 for the Baltimore Orioles from 1994 to 2001 for the Texas Rangers. He won the title in 1993 Coach of the Year, in 1998 the title for the American League. The Texas Rangers he led in 1996 for the first time in the team's history in the major league playoffs. 1998 and 1999, he succeeded with his team to win the title in the AL West. 2001 Oates a brain tumor was diagnosed.
