José Luíz Barbosa

José Luiz Barbosa ( born May 27, 1961 in Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul ) is a former Brazilian athlete who specialized discipline was the 800 -meter run.

Sporting successes

Barbosa participated in four Summer Olympics (1984, 1988 1992 and 1996) in part, but missed each time participation medal. His best results were fourth at the Games of Barcelona in 1992 and sixth in 1988 in Seoul.

His biggest success Barbosa by winning the gold medal at the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships 1987 in Indianapolis to an embossed tactics of the 800-meter race in 1:47,49 min. That same year, Barbosa won at the outdoor world championships in Rome in 1:43,76 min the bronze medal behind Billy Konchellah from Kenya ( 1:43,06 min ) and the British Peter Elliott ( 1:43,41 min).
