Josef Molzer

Josef Molzer ( born February 28, 1906 in Vienna, Austria - Hungary, † September 1987) was an Austrian football player and football coach.

Club career

Molzer came from the district of Vienna Floridsdorf and began his football career at the District Club SK Admira Vienna, where he in 1925 his first game in the top division completed. His tribe was the position of center forward, but he had at the Admiralty with the Austrian national player Johann climate and the distinguished Karl Stoiber strong competition and decided in 1926 to leave the club. After half a year at SK Rapid Wien, where he also brought it to only a few missions, he accepted an offer of FK Austria Wien, where he could win a regular place for the first time, but not as a center forward (this position was occupied by Matthias Sindelar ), rather than the right connector.

After this season, he moved again to the club and was now on for the Floridsdorfer AC, where he rushed alongside Karl Jiszda and finally found on the right wing that position, he was henceforth to remain faithful. In 1929 he returned to Austria, where he was to play the next seven years. With the Violet he could be twice Cup winners and get an international title in this period, as 1933 could be defeated in Mitropacupfinale Ambrosiana Inter Milan. One of his most remarkable achievements has provided Molzer in November 1934, when he was able to defeat with Austria on a UK tour Liverpool 2-0, scoring both goals. In 1936, he finally left the club and ended after two years at the Vienna of his career. Was he no longer first choice in Austria, he once again showed the blue - yellow his skills and scored both goals in the 2-0 Cup victory against the Sport-Club 1937.

National

To Molzers strongest period in the early 1930s, the position of right winger in the national team by Karl Zischek was top-notch cast, so Molzer came only a few opportunities for missions. After eight games for the Vienna city selection he could make his debut in the 4-3 victory over Sweden in July 1932, where he also achieved a goal. Coaching career

His first coaching position was the SK Sturm Graz, which he took over in 1946 and where he could win three times the Styrian league. The last of these three titles eligible for the Grazer first participation at the highest Austrian league. Then Molzer moved to Germany, where he oversaw the TSV 1860 München from the spring 1950 Westfalia Herne and in the season 1951/52.

On his return to Austria, he was first head coach in Tirol, before he was working for the OFB and as one of several assistant coaches preparing the national team for the 1954 World Cup. In 1955, he served as national coach under the newly appointed Federal Captain Hans Kaulich just a game in office when Kaulich back resigned for health reasons. Molzer was an interim basis for three games primarily responsible for the national team before with Charles Geyer, a new Federal captain was ordered and Molzer worked this again as a coach. When, after eight months Geyer resigned his part, transferred the OFB responsibility a Betreuerduo consisting of Molzer and Joseph Argauer. Under their leadership, the national team qualify for the World Cup 1958, but where one already eliminated in the group stage. Subsequently Molzer was part of a four-man provisional, which was responsible for two more games for the national team.

In 1960 he was finally briefly coach of Vienna, but was replaced in September by Leopold Gernhardt and remained active in the association as a section leader.
