Joseph Hoàng Văn Tiem

Joseph Hoàng Van Tiem SDB ( born September 12, 1938 in Hai Son, † August 17, 2013 ) was Bishop of Bùi Chu. Its name combines Western tradition names (Joseph as a first name before the family name Hoàng ) with Vietnamese ( Van Tiem as a personal name stands behind the family name ).

Life

Joseph Hoàng Van Tiem joined the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco and studied philosophy and theology in Hong Kong at the International Institute of the Salesians for philosophical and theological studies in Cremisan monastery in Bait Dschala. He received on 19 April 1973, the ordination. He was professor of moral theology at the Salesian institute in Da Lạt, 1995 at the seminary of Hanoi.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 4 July 2001 as Bishop of Bùi Chu. The Archbishop of Hanoi, Joseph Paul Cardinal Phạm Đình Tung, consecrated him on 8 August of the same year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were François Xavier Nguyên Van Sang, Bishop of Thái Bình, and Joseph Nguyen Van Yên, Bishop of Phát Diêm.
