Joseph Lefever

Joseph Lefever (* April 3, 1760 in Strasburg, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, † October 17, 1826 in Paradise, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1811 and 1813, he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Joseph Lefever attended the common schools and worked in agriculture. Later he became a member of, founded by Thomas Jefferson in the 1790s, the Democratic-Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1810 he was in the third electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Daniel Hiester on March 4, 1811. Until March 3, 1813, he was able to complete a term in Congress. During this time, the British -American War of 1812 began.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Joseph Lefever operated again in agriculture. He died on October 17, 1826 in Paradise.
