Joyce Bamford-Addo

Joyce Adeline Bamford - Addo ( born March 26, 1937 in Accra / Ghana) is the spokesperson of the Ghanaian parliament. Between 1991 and 2004 she was a judge at the Supreme Court in Ghana.

Life

Bamford - Addo visited Cape Coast first, the St. Mary's Boarding School and later the OLA Boarding School, both schools with denominational background ( Catholic). For secondary education, she moved to the Holy Child School in Cape Coast also.

She studied law in London and was founded in 1961 for the English legal profession (English: English Bar ) allowed. Between 1961 and 1962, the lawyer was in England private practice before returning to Ghana and here in 1962 was awarded the Ghanaian practice law. Between 1963 and 1965 she was in the rank of a prosecutor ( engl. State Attorney ), 1965 has been in the position of a first prosecutor conveyed (Senior State Attorney ) and was between 1970-1973 senior public prosecutor (English Principal State Attorney ). 1973-1976 was Bambord - Addo senior senior public prosecutor (English Chief State Attorney ) and undertook subsequent as head of the Public Prosecutor in the Office of the Chief State Attorney, which she held until 1986.

In the Deliberative Assembly in 1991 to draft a new constitution, it was second Deputy Spokesperson. Between 1991 and 2004 she was a judge at the Supreme Court of Ghana (English Supreme Court Judge ) operates. In 2004, she joined voluntarily to retire.

After the parliamentary elections in 2008, she was elected on January 7, 2009 Speaker of the fifth Ghanaian Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. She is the first woman to hold this office.
